The Fault in Our Stars || thoughts

The Fault in Our Stars
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To quote the far beyond flawless Augustus Waters, as of right now,
"My thoughts are stars that I cannot fathom into constellations"
My thoughts, that is, on The Fault in Our Stars.
This book was beautiful in every possible way, it was a solid book, with a solid ending, that I would be mortified if a sequel was attempted because it would never equate to the masterpiece that is TFiOS.
A strong book with a solid, good, though certainly not... okay, ending, is hard to find, why all books must be made into sequels, trilogies, or series', I will never understand, for though I do love for the story to go on, to live in my mind, some books can and should be over after that last chapter.
I was aware when, after months of waiting to hold this flawlessness in my hands as my own, that TFiOS would tear my heart out. That it could quite possibly tear it to shreds and stomp on it as I looked on in stunned and dying silence.
Of course there is no silence after a book like this, perhaps you make no audible sound, but I can hear every tear drop as it drips down my face, and my thoughts are louder than ever.
Sometimes I wonder, why it is that I willingly give my heart out to be marred and given back to me in shreds, why I pick up a book that, though for a moment will provide me with enjoyment, smiles, and thoughtfulness, but knowing full well that in the end, nothing will make sense anymore, including why I took advantage of those few moments of enjoyment to begin with.
It's not like I have not done it before, aware that the end of the book would leave me in nothingness, staring into space with only my thoughts to keep me company, I know that feeling, I know it well, it is one I experience so many days of my life.
And yet, though these moments of emptiness, days of listlessness, they are painful, and yet beautiful, that they are worth it, for the amazing experience it was to spend that time with Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters, that though I am aware, partially, of what became of them, that they life on in my mind, friends, companions, they accompany my many other fictional friends made through experiences such as these. And it's worth it.
It's a strange to think that a feeling such as this is worth the simple pleasure of reading about fictitious characters, but it is, and it always will be, and I'll never stop, it's one of my most worth it, not-so-simple pleasures.
in the end
it's just worth it.

Enjoying life's little moments

My favorite moments in life are the simple ones that make me smile.

Eating donuts for breakfast

Wearing comfy pajama pants and cozy sweaters

Finally getting that book you've been waiting for months to read

Those (however short) moments when your hair looks just perfect

When you realize your friends know you better than you thought they did

Just the little things that make life great.

I am so blessed, I want to remember all the little things that I take for granted, the beautiful moments.

Like when my siblings throw me an impromptu birthday party even when both my parents were gone all day.

Or when my little brother runs in my room just to give me a big hug, then runs off again.

When I get to work in the nursery at church and hang out with some of the cutest kids ever.

Or the fact that I got happy birthday wishes from 3 continents.

My life is amazing, I'm enjoying every second of it.

I realize this is really just a longer version of the thumbs up in my ups&downs posts, but I do not care.
also, I GOT THE FAULT IN OUR STARS IT IS BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING AND OHMYWORD I CAN'T
and.... THE DIVERGENT TRAILER CAME OUT TODAY I AM FREAKING THIS INCREDIBLE.
That is all.

Gatlinburg 2013

So, I told y'all I was gonna be gone this weekend, so I thought I'd give you a brief description of the AMAZING time I had on our Gatlinburg fall retreat.

To start off, I should go ahead and clarify that this trip was beyond incredible, pretty much the best weekend of my life. I'm so thankful for every single person there, it was absolutely gorgeous, and we had SO much fun. I grew so much closer to all of the people there and realized some pretty great things about people I now know I definitely had the wrong idea about.
So basically, it was the description of awesome.

Here is a list of some of the things we did while we were there:

  • We went shopping a bunch, in Gatlinburg and in Pigeon Forge.
  • We spent a lot of time at the cabin we stayed at playing games and getting to know each other.

  • We went on a hike, a bunch of us (myself included) fell in the freezing creek, but we took a bunch of pictures, climbed trees, & had a ton of fun.
The creek we went to on our hike :D
  • We had a film festival! I could go on and on about this because it was a TON of fun, but basically we all made a movie in a specific genre & had a list of things that had to be in it, then we went back to the cabin & watched them, & laughed our heads off.
Wax Avengers needed a picture
  • We went mini-golfing and go-carting, I did not go-cart, & learned that I REALLY stink at mini-golf, but it was still so much fun. A bunch of the sophmore guys were behind us and whenever they caught up they started yelling at us to hurry up, it made one of my friends really mad and embarrassed, but me and my other friend just laughed XD
  • We had worship and discussions twice a day, this is the time when we stopped goofing off for a few minutes and really talked about the reason we were there, to get to know each other better so we could learn to bear with each other & unite to show the love of Christ to others.
The first morning, post-rain, view outside our cabin, does it get any more gorgeous!?
  • I spent a lot of time taking selfies on my friends' phones. No shame.
  • We made a list of hashtags describing different parts of the trip. :P
Only some of these will be explained if you ask, I only put this picture on here because you don't know my friend therefore you don't know who's who on here. :P
  • We rode in the van, which probably sounds obvious, but this was one of the most fun parts of the trip because of who I was in the van with, every ride was H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S.
  • We spent about 2 hours writing cards to each other telling each other what we loved about them, I feel bad now because mine were so generic & the ones that I got were all beautiful and kind & amazing.
This envelope originally had my last name on it, but for safety reasons, now it does not.
  • We didn't get our cards right away, later that day we sat in a circle & one at a time, we all sat in the middle & who ever wanted to talk told us their favorite things about us. This was hands-down my favorite part of the trip, I totally loved the entire experience, letting each other know that we care about each other & all the different things we love about each other. I can honestly say only a few times in my life have I ever felt so loved, people I barely knew told me they thought I was an amazing person, & I loved being able to tell other people that I don't normally talk to what I like about them.
It was one of the best weekends of my life, the ONLY thing that could have made it any better, is if it had been longer. I'm so thankful for this experience, and I already can't wait for next year.

HEY! So as you probably tell my all that stuff ^^^ I've got a lot going on this coming month,
I did commit to TRY and do NaNoWriMo, so I won't be posting on here much this month, I'll try and update y'all once a week or more to let you know and I might get one of those neat word-count widgets, we'll see.
*I am continuing Repeating History, but I'm using it for NaNoWriMo so it won't be posted on here*
I won't be active at all this weekend until Tuesday since I'll be in Gatlinburg, just FYI.

That's all folks!
