stargazing

Do you remember,
when you wished upon a star?
That first star you saw, that one was magic.
In our heads, that little star, a million miles away,
could make every with come true.
I can't tell you how many times I wished for something petty and selfish.
Almost every time, I wished for that new toy that I wanted.

I sit here, years later, wondering what my wish would be now.
If I could still will my heart to believe that it could make my wish come true no matter how big.
Would I be petty and selfish?
Wish for something new?
Would I wish for my puny problems to go away?
I'm a selfish first world child, no matter how hard I try to not be.

Or would my wish be something bigger?
Would I wish for something for our orphanage in Uganda?
Would I wish for enough stuff, and enough time to finish the Christmas presents we need done for them all?
Or would I wish for something for a friend going through a hard time?

Would I think bigger?
Would I wish that there would be no war?
Would I wish that world hunger was gone?
Would I wish that every child would have a loving family?

I consider this, wondering what my wish would be...
Then I stop.
I realize that wishing on a star will do me no good,
why should I think about making a silly wish?
Wouldn't it be better to think that there's actual hope in your wish?
Wouldn't it be better to ask the one who has the power to make it happen?

Why don't I ask my God?
Isn't he more powerful than the star that He created?
He made the constellations and the beauty of the stars in the sky.
My thoughts and wishes should go to him, not to a non-living ball of gas that certainly isn't listening.
But God is, he hears our every thought.
He hears our every wish,
so stop wishing on a star,
and direct them toward him.

And when you look up to the sky and see the sun, the moon and the stars—all the heavenly array—do not be enticed into bowing down to them and worshiping things the Lord your God has apportioned to all the nations under heaven
Deuteronomy 4:19

Walking barefoot through the unkempt grass, high enough to tickle my ankles, though it flattens beneath my feet.
I sit and lean back on my elbows, it feels good to be alone.
They said it would be good to think, try and work things out without the distraction of the world.
I suppose it would, but instead I want to enjoy my thoughtlessness for a moment.
Thoughtlessness doesn't come easily for me, so I close my eyes and try to imagine a different world,
a world with no hardships, no loneliness, no mistakes, no chaos or complications.
The image doesn't come easy, and when it does, I realize that it isn't a place I want to live.
The realization hits me like a ton of bricks.
It's not.
I don't want a life like that.
Problems are part of a life that I love, mistakes make me who I am, the complications always seem to work out in the end.
Everything works out in the end...
I open my eyes and smile, apparently being alone did me more good that I thought.
I pluck a fluffy white dandelion from the ground.
I close my eyes, and for the first time, I don't wish for anything, for something to be over, or something else to begin, instead I thank God for the chaos, the problems and mistakes, because I realize those things are part of a much bigger plan.

"And we know that in all things, God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose"
Romans 8:28

***

This started out with that picture of a dandelion, meant to be a photo-inspired, fictional, short story.
Instead, as I began writing, other things came into my head,  I just kept writing, letting my thoughts take me where they wanted to go.
I ended up learning things that, obviously, I knew in the back of my mind, but that were brought to the surface by simply writing whatever popped into my head.

Please let me know what you think ♥

dreams

So... Based on the title you might think this is gonna be a heartfelt, thought out post about following your ambitions and doing what you love and all that jazz.

Nope.

On the contrary, this is a post in which I tell you about one of my most recent dreams that was... interesting. {The details of the story are a little fuzzy, this is what I remember of this dream}

So to begin, this dream was set in what I assume was a futuristic dystopian, I was there, and a bunch of people I know were there, including two of my brothers and a guy from my church (We'll get to that later)

In this dream world, we go into an arena and fight monsters, for sport as far as I could tell.
Except, they weren't like big scary monsters that you fought with weapons. Actually, they were more like Monsters inc type monsters that we fought in hand-to-hand combat.

... Yeah

So stepping back a bit, I mentioned the guy from my church, well I don't really know this guy well, like at all, but my dream-self seemed to have a much bigger crush on him than my real-life self.

See this guy (Let's call him Eduardo, which by the way, is not his name at all) did something - I don't really even remember what and my dream-brother said something along the lines of "When a cute guy does that than you ____" (I don't know what he was telling me to do XD) and I did not, my dream-brother repeated himself and I still did not, now everyone else is staring at me and I got really embarrassed, so naturally, I just ran away.

I think I went to the bathroom and when I came out, Eduardo was waiting for me, nobody else was there.
He starts flirting and whatnot and we go to the arena, you know, where we fight monsters.

So apparently we do this stuff in teams, and on my team is my other dream-brother and Eduardo. So the monster attacks me first and knocks me down (Apparently I'm not very good at monster fighting) and Eduardo gets really mad and attacks the monster and wins the fight in seconds. So now my dream-self is thinking "So does this mean he likes me?".

Anyway at some point Eduardo admits to liking me and everybody thinks it's adorable and blah blah blah...
(I know, I'm such a romantic. Really I just don't really remember this part)

After this we all end up in this building, apparently we're the heroes in this dystopian society book and we are trapped. Then there are these holographic monsters that I somehow know each of us has to fight.

We end up winning because I knew what we had to do.

I vaguely remember there being more to the dream, but it's all a blur after that so....
That's all folks!!

P.s. Was that really boring or what? XD I just thought you people in the internet-world would like to know what goes on in my brain, I really don't know where that came from.
Also, I told my parents about this dream, but only about, well, what's before the picture. I casually left out the part about Edurado, haha xD

forget the world

Close my eyes
Put my headphones in
and forget the world

Let the music be my escape
from life, from the world
stop worrying, start dreaming

Daydream about things
that would never happen
Create my own reality

I hear the music,
but not the words

Just me and my thoughts
dreaming words
no one will ever hear

Allow myself to be alone
forget my problems
live a life
that doesn't exist

forget the world.

P.s. I don't know about you but seeing "September" so many times it seriously does not look like a word anymore.
