The Sunshine Award!

"For bloggers who positively and creatively inspire others in the blogosphere."

The rules are:

I. thank the blogger that nominated you and link to his/her blog
II. nominate other bloggers and let them know on their blogs
III. answer a list of ten questions
IV. the Sunshine Award button must be posted on your blog

The beautiful S (Should I know your full name? Eek.) who has a lovely little blog called A Free Mind, gave me this award, thank you sooo much!!!

1. What is your favorite scripture verse?

My answer to this question is ever-changing, and I have many, the one that comes to mind is Psalm 34:18:
"The LORD is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit"
because I found it when I needed to hear that most, but high up on the list are Isaiah 1:17, James 1:27, Isaiah 6:8, and 1 Timothy 4:12.

2. Would you sacrifice your life if it would save that of a stranger's?

I'd love to say that I would without a second thought, but it all depends on the situation. If it was a split-second, push-someone-out-of-the-road-because-there's-a-car-coming, I don't think I'd be able think quickly enough to do so, but if someone had a gun and said it was me or someone else, I'd say to shoot me, I'm not afraid to die.

3. Given the chance to swim with dolphins... would you accept?

What kind of question is this? Of course I would!!! Actually, I think I have before, but it was a long time ago. I think it would be a blast, dolphins are so sweet and cute and just make me want to hug them.

4. Are you more "fascinated" by the light or by the darkness; why?

Honestly, I don't know. Light is beautiful, and when it hits things just right, you can see things in ways you've never imagined. But the darkness strikes up my imagination, when you can't see anything, anything is possible, and there is no logic in actually seeing the proof to tell me otherwise.

5. Can you speak with a different accent?

Hmm... Perhaps. But you most likely don't want to hear it.
If it's on command that is, when I'm in Uganda, I unconsciously start speaking with a Ugandan accent.

6. Do you play an instrument?

I wish. But I do not. My brother was gifted with the musical ability in my family, I got none.

7. Has the ocean ever filled your dreams?

My actual, sleeping, nighttime dreams, no. but my daydreams have defnitely been filled with the beauty of the waves and the taste of salt.

8. Presuming you own one, how often is your journal put to use?

Whenever my thoughts become so much, that I have to get them out of my head and put them on paper, when I don't want to say it out loud, but need get it out somehow.

9. Why on earth (pun intended) would anyone wish to rule the world?

A selfish desire for power corrupts people's minds. Satan twists their thoughts to make them think they won't be happy until everything is their way and exactly how they want it.

10. What is your favorite hymn?

I can't say that I have one...

Well that was fun :)

I nominate...
KayleeBeth @ That Bright One
Heather @ JesusChick
Priya @ Priya Kate
And since you are ALL beautiful and wonderful, anybody else who else who would like to do this, I nominate you ;)

Before I go, I want to say that I should be back on my blogging game soon, I actually have inspiration for what to write for once! See you all soon :)

Bible Verse Editing Contest

Hey all! I'm entering Brittney's Bible verse editing contest!

You can see the original post for the contest here.

After much much much going back and forth and trying to decide which edits to use, I finally decided on these two:

Are you surprised that there's one with some of my favoritest kids in the world? Yeah, me neither.

I found this verse when I needed it the very most, I really like this edit ♥

I hope you like them!!!
Thank you Brittney for holding this contest! :)

(I believe my grandmother took the first picture on out trip to Uganda a few months back, I found the second image on Tumblr)

Hello 2014

Man, 2013 was a pretty great year.

Let's have a look at what I did in 2013...

In January I...

Settled back into life after months of chaos...
Made friends...
Dressed in faction outfits...
Adjusted to the littlest member of our household being around...

He had interesting food choices...

In February I...

Ran my first (and only) 5k...
^ My brother & I ended by saying it was a terrible idea and we probably should have stretched or trained XD ^
Wondered what I was doing here...
^That's my other blog :) ^
Helped my small group collect hundreds of boxes of macaroni for the Super Bowl competition... (We won)
Went to my last Believe conference... (Bittersweet)

In March I...

Posted on Facebook by one of the bands that performed that night, not my photo.

In May I...

Celebrated birthdays, graduations, and marriages...
Spent a lot of time with friends...
Had a bonfire...
(We) Got a puppy!...

I found that accusing your father of not having a soul really helps your case.

In June I...

Got a needle stabbed though my fingernail while sewing... (OW, hurts just thinking about it)
Saw my brother home from Afghanistan for a few weeks...
Had one of the best weeks of my life at camp with my friends... (We have countless inside jokes from one week)
Went on vacation with my family <3...

My brother's girlfriend took family pictures while we were there, they're some of the few pictures of myself I actually like.
In July I...

Finished the Harry Potter books... (And changed my life for the better)
Made my parents a scrapbook (of sorts) for their anniversary... (Took foreverrrr. But worth it to see their reaction when I gave it to them, the day I left for Uganda!)
Left for Uganda!...

Shoes I got for Uganda :)
In August I...

Was in Uganda until the 19th...
Started this blog!... (Fun fact: While I was in Uganda!)
Hung out with my sister-in-law...
Watched little brother officially become part of out family... (Yay God!)

(As you can tell, my July and August were pretty consumed with my trip to Uganda, you can read more about that and see pictures on my other blog here, it was pretty amazing ♥)

In September I...

Got to hang out with a bunch of different group of friends...
Started babysitting at church every week...
Finally saw my brother home from Afghanistan... (For good this time)
Watched the Percy Jackson movie again...

BIG MISTAKE.

In October I...

Packed Christmas present for our kids in Uganda... (And watched my dad and brother take them without me... I only cried a little bit)
Lost the giraffe challenge... (long story)
Watched two of my best friends move away... (Miss them so bad)
Celebrated a VERY special FRIENDAVERSARY... (Read about it herehere, here)
^^^ This girl made this year absolutely AMAZING. Don't even get me started ^^^
Dressed as Thor for Halloween...
Read some awesome books... (Allegiant and House of Hades!!! :O :O :O)

In November I...

Went on one of the best trips of my life... (Gatlinburg ♥)
Attempted (and failed) NaNoWriMo...
Watched Tangled & Saw Catching Fire...
Spent Thanksgiving with my family...
Celebrated my 14th birthday!...

In December I...

SAW FROZEN ♥♥♥...
Was in a play with my friends at church... (I sang in the choir... but it was still lots of fun)
Had and amazing Christmas...

***

So all in all, a pretty fantastic year.
God has blessed me so much with amazing experiences, people, and memories to be treasure forever this last year.
I can't wait to see what he has in store for this year, for 2014.

Please be as amazing as the last ♥

I didn't make any New Year "resolutions", as I don't trust myself to keep them, but I do have a list of things I want to do before my 15th birthday (in November) that I'll be sharing soon, and as you can see on my sidebar, I'm challenging myself to read 40 books this year, it's not really a stretch from last year's 34, so it may go up as the year progresses.
